Memorial to SSHI's founder, Carlton RussellCarlton Russell believed in servitude to those who were less fortunate. This was exemplified in the way he took care of his late wife, Lorene, while she suffered from ALS. Carlton’s servitude also reached beyond his family and immediate social circle of friends for he served his country honorably in the U.S. Army, was a former commander and life member of VFW Post 9851 (which is a very time consuming job), was chairman of Sumner Special Housing, Inc., past Grand Knight as well as founder of the Knights of Columbus council 9132, and MR Foundation of Tennessee board director. Carlton truly did God’s work for his family, neighbors, and community. We are truly blessed to have had such a man amongst us!

Carlton will be dearly missed, but his vision for Sumner Special Housing will move forward, as he wished and in his honor. May God bless Carlton and may he rest in peace.
